Note: All containers will be subject to the above detention charges per container per calendar day or fraction thereof after expiration of free time. Plugging & Monitoring Charges for reefer container is USD 9.00 per day per container, applicable from the date of discharge. 15 percent VAT on plugging & monitoring charge i.e. BDT 95.00 applicable per day per container.

EXPORT SERVICE RESTRICTIONS
Commodity
No restrictions except IMO/Dangerous cargo. There is a strict 'no acceptance' policy with regard to export booking of IMO/Dangerous cargo.
Weight / Measurement Weight limitation :
Maximum Gross Weight (cargo weight plus tare weight) of 24 mts / 20' dry container & 30 mts / 40' dry container.
Bill of lading clause, documentation
According to Bangladesh Bank regulations, all bills of lading have to be consigned to local banks. Only exceptions are factories fully owned by foreign companies and shipments without Letter of Credit issuance (i.e. no bank negotiation). For prepaid shipments, shippers have to present Export Certificate when collecting the bill of lading. For all personal effects or cargo moving without letter of credit or telephone transfer contract, shipper must provide encashment / cost and freight certificate.
Others
Dhaka does not accept refrigerated or OOG cargo.
No LCL reefer cargo is accepted in Bangladesh.
IMPORT SERVICE RESTRICTIONS
Following restrictions of cargo acceptance are applicable for the shipments under MCC Transport bills of lading.

Freight Type:
Imports on freight collect basis are not accepted. All destination charges should also be prepaid for exports to Bangladesh.
Commodity
Dangerous and hazardous cargo of IMO class 1 and 7, firearms and ammunitions including sport guns and air pistols, any explosive items, police tear gas canisters, currency and currency paper, non-judicial stamps, security printing paper and ink, banknote paper, cheque printing paper, passports, any army items, Cars Knocked Down (CKD) goods, perishable cargo, cement, fertilizer, rapeseeds, loose scrap, C.I. sheets, G.P. sheets, B.P. sheets, tin plates or similar type of iron material, alcohol and alcoholic beverage.
Any food items, raw cotton, food grains/product, Tyre cords - are accepted for CY delivery only.
Weight / Measurement
Weight limitation is maximum Gross Weight (cargo weight plus tare weight) of 24,000 kgs and 30,400 kgs for 20' and 40'/45' containers respectively.
Special Cargoes
Reefer, OOG cargo and 45' containers are not accepted to Dhaka. Dangerous cargo (excluding IMO class 1 and 7) can be imported in 20', 40' and 40'hc containers only. Reefer cargo is not accepted for CFS delivery.
Customs Requirements
Effective 15 February 2000 a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) certificate is mandatory for all the imports into the country.
01 Goods fully exempted from customs duty.
02 Goods imported by a government, semi-government, sector corporation or autonomous organization (import of raw materials or intermediate goods for commercial manufacturing or production are included in the PSI program)
03 Import consignment is of a value equal to or less than USD5000 (whether imported against L/C or not)
04 Perishable goods including fresh fruits, live animals, living plants, fish and meat.
05 Goods for export oriented industries imported under bonded warehouse facilities.
06 Goods imported as relief under authority of the govt.
07 Goods imported by privileged persons as per entitlements laid out by the government.
08 Goods imported by a diplomat or under the coverage of a diplomatic facility as per the Vienna convention, 1961 duly certified by the ministry of foreign affairs of the peoples republic of Bangladesh.
09 Machinery and equipment imported for the rehabilitation of deaf, dumb, blind and physically and mentally handicapped persons.
10 Defense stores as described in the NBR memo no 9(41)nbr/cus-iv/72/246 dated 10 April 1981.
11 Goods imported under non tourist baggage rules, 1999.
The companies authorized for supervision of PSI are:
M/s Interlink Testing Services (ITS); for 47 countries including China, Hong Kong, France, Italy, Switzerland and Sweden.
M/s Inspectorate Griffth; for 14 countries including India, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
M/s Bureau Veritas; for others including USA, Japan, Taiwan and countries in Middle East and Fareast.
Others
For all food items a Radiation Certificate is mandatory. Without the certificate Chittagong Port Authority does not allow container discharge.
