Port Congestion Surcharge in Haiphong, Vietnam
MCC Transport has in the past few weeks been monitoring the increasing port congestion situation in Haiphong caused by import cargo. The import dry & reefer containers are much higher than the yard capacity and available reefer plugs, thus leading to serious congestion.
We have pursued to reduce impact to our clients by continuously incurring increased operational costs as a result of the congestion situation, but we are regrettably no longer able to continue absorbing the extra costs of serving the congested Haiphong port.
We are therefore announcing the implementation of a Port Congestion Surcharge to recover part of these extra costs effective from 7th June 2010. The Port Congestion surcharge will be applicable - basis B/L Date - for all COC import containers from Intra Asia origin ports moving through Haiphong port, and will be invoiced and collected from the freight payer. The charge quantum for each cargo type is as follows:
Charge Quantum | Dry | Reefer |
Congestion Surcharge | USD 50 per TEU | USD 75 per TEU |
