Increase in Congestion Surcharge for Imports to Dhaka, Bangladesh
The port of Chittagong is experiencing heavy congestion and significantly low productivity. At the holding area for Dhaka-bound cargo, more than 800 backlog containers are still awaiting dispatch, and delays of more than 3 weeks must be built-in to your transit time expectation.
In view of the stagnant situation, MCC Transport will be increasing our existing Congestion Surcharge on all imports into Dhaka applicable for all cargoes gated-in on 1st July 2010 to cover the additional cost incurred of storage in the port and vessel delay.
Details of the Congestion Surcharge quantum are as follows:| Charge Item | Before 1st July 2010 | Cargoes gated-in on or after 1st July 2010 |
| 20'/40'/40'HC | 20'/40'/40'HC | |
Congestion Surcharge for all imports to Dhaka | USD250/400/400 | USD 400/800/800 |
